Panagbenga, or the Flower Festival, is an annual event held in Baguio City, the Philippines, to celebrate and pay tribute to the city's beautiful flowers, vibrant culture, and diverse heritage.
The Grand Float Parade is one of the highlights of the Panagbenga Festival and takes place on Feb 26, 2023. The Parade will start at the DILG on Upper Session Road and end at the Melvin Jones Football Grounds. During the Parade, dozens of floats will be showcased, each decorated with thousands of flowers and unique designs. One of the most impressive floats will be a seven-meter-long float with over 3,000 bundles of flowers and a Phoenix-themed design.
The main highlight of the festival is the annual parade of giant parade floats and street decorations made of flowers. The parade usually starts with a ‘Sagasa’ or parade of lanterns, followed by a ‘Migkas’ or procession of bands, and a ‘Bakas’ or procession of floral floats. Other activities during the festival include native dance performances, traditional music, and a fireworks display. There are also events such as a cooking competition, a flower arrangement competition, and a photography contest. The festival culminates with a traditional ‘Luyag’ or a grand street dance. Panagbenga is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Baguio City and draws visitors from all over the world.
